Practical answers to common questions about MedForm3D's services.
We accept DICOM files (.dcm, .dicom, .ima) and STL files (.stl). For large DICOM studies, you can upload a ZIP archive containing all the files. If you have your imaging data in another format, contact us and we'll work with you to find a solution.
The process is straightforward: you fill out a short intake form with doctor and patient information, upload your imaging data (DICOM or STL), select technical options, and submit your order. Our team reviews the data, prepares the model, and sends it for your approval before production begins. Once approved, the model is printed, quality-checked, and shipped to you.
Standard anatomical models are typically delivered 3–5 business days after your approval. Express turnaround (48h after approval) is available for urgent cases; contact us to confirm availability. Complex multi-part assemblies or custom-engineered solutions may require additional time depending on scope and material.
MedForm3D serves two main audiences. Surgeons, particularly ORL/ENT and craniomaxillofacial (CMF) specialists, who need patient-specific anatomical models for presurgical planning. And technical teams in pharma, medtech, hospitals, and engineering who need custom design and additive manufacturing solutions. The ordering process is the same for a university hospital and a one-person engineering office.
ORL/ENT and CMF are our primary focus areas. For ORL/ENT, we produce models for sinus and skull base anatomy, temporal bone, airway reconstruction, and head and neck cases. For CMF, we support osteotomy planning, fracture and deformity evaluation, and pre-surgical anatomy review. If your case falls outside these areas, reach out and we'll discuss whether we can help.
Yes. If you already have a 3D model file ready to print, select the STL option on the order form, upload your file, choose your material, and we'll handle the rest: printing, post-processing, and delivery from Switzerland. You can also specify material preferences and any post-processing requirements in the order notes.
That's what the New Project option on the order form is for: anything that doesn't fit a standard DICOM or STL order, from prototypes and custom components to surgical guides and teaching props. Describe your requirements and attach any reference files or sketches. We'll review it and come back to you with a quote.
Of course. Once a model has been prepared, additional copies are straightforward to produce for resident training, simulation sessions, or team briefings. Mention your quantity needs in the order form or contact us to discuss training-focused orders.
After you submit your order, our team reviews the uploaded imaging data and begins segmenting the relevant anatomical structures. We then prepare the 3D model and present it for your approval. Nothing is printed until you confirm the model meets your needs. You'll receive an order confirmation by email and our team will stay in touch throughout the process.
Your files are uploaded through a secure portal and stored in private cloud storage that is not publicly accessible. We handle all imaging data with care and treat patient information as confidential. If you have specific data handling requirements or institutional policies, contact us to discuss them.
We offer a range of materials including ABS, PLA, PEEK, ULTEM, and silicone options. The right choice depends on what the model has to do: a bone replica for drilling needs stiffness, an airway model needs flex, and a regulated application needs a certified material. If in doubt, describe the use and we'll advise.
We do. Beyond surgical planning, we work with pharma companies, medtech firms, hospitals, biomedical research teams, and engineering departments on custom design and additive manufacturing projects. If you need a part designed, printed, or reverse-engineered, it is worth asking.
Both. You can upload a ready-to-print STL or CAD file, or describe your project and we'll handle the design. We offer end-to-end support from concept to finished part, including design, material selection, production, and delivery.
PEEK, ULTEM, and medical-grade silicones in our range are used in regulated environments. Tell us your compliance requirements and we'll confirm what fits before you order.
Our team is happy to help. Reach out and we'll respond within one business day.
